Phalaenopsis and Passion Vine

An Ikebana inspired design of phalaenopsis orchids, passion flower vine and sedum. Designed to look like it's growing from a rock-like container with a manzanita branch.

When I make bouquets for friends I generally like to hand tie them just like a bridal bouquet, there's just something pure about arranging flowers in your hand. Some magenta stock, orange roses, and green hypericum (yeah even I can't resist a managers special on flowers when shopping sometimes.) The phalaenopsis blooms were from one our plants with the blooms removed from the stem and individually wired in.

 You've seen more than your share of cymbidiums and dendrobiums in my designs, here is the lovely phalaelopsis which you can find anywhere from a florist (they will be better taken care of though more expensive) to your grocery store. Though using these blooms in bridal bouquets is tricky, it can be done and I encourage you brides -to- be to do so. Though I'm no Lisa Suits (mycologista, mistress of the macro) I will try from time to time to show you the individual beauty of flowers as well as how they work in designs.
