Manzanita Chandelier Centerpiece

An elevated centerpiece of silk phalaenopsis orchids, hydrangea, astilbe and manzanita branches. Crystals and votives suspended from the branches give the piece a chandelier effect.

Peonies and Astilbe

Peonies are becoming one of the most shown blooms on this blog, which suits me fine. Shown this time with astilbe, silver brunia and dusty miller. I must admit, I'm pretty happy about romantic flowers being trendy.

Brooch Bouquet

A mix of new and vintage brooches collared with silver spangled ribbon. This type of bouquet has become a big part of the vintage wedding trend, taking something old and making it new. I bet there is not a grandmother in the world that would not be pleased with her granddaughter using her costume jewelry in a bridal bouquet. No flowers, but still very pretty, and I do love the concept.

Lavender

The 2014 Pantone color of the year is "Radiant Orchid" (a slightly pink lavender,) and is a welcome addition to the blush bridal floral trend. Since blue is such a rarity in the floral kingdom, lavender brings a nice "cool down" to our color palette.
Top - A hand tied bouquet of cool water roses, pink ranunculus, silver brunia and dusty miller.
Middle - An elevated centerpiece of hydrangeas, cool water roses, lavender carnations, phalaenopsis orchids (a great example of the Pantone color I mentioned,) dusty miller and bling.
Bottom - A different take on the centerpiece trio with lavender roses, gems and mokara orchids on green wire to give some movement to the design. A hip look for not a lot of money.

Teal and Brown

Something interesting and beautiful always happens in this lovely dining room. This year it was metallics, blue/teal and brown. The china pattern was our inspiration springboard, elegant and unexpected, I just love it!

Merry Christmas 2013!

A friendly, colorful tree with a mix of retro and new ornaments. It's a nice change of pace to decorate a live tree.

Danielle Ledbetter

Obviously I'm a bit behind on posting, been a busy few months, (and Facebook does make a blogger lazy.) I'll try to catch up quickly before I get into Christmas posts. Here is Danielle Ledbetter and Co. in October. She carried a great bouquet of eggplant calla lilies, white polar star roses with hypericum berries. Her attendants carried terra cotta roses, leucdenron, lotus pods and green hypericum for some contrast. A few unexpected materials made for some texturally interesting fall bouquets. The leucadendron (safari sunset) also makes a handsome boutonniere.

Katie Heim

Here we have Katie Heim, posing with her library book bag "Because it's Me!" She carried ivory vandella roses, picasso calla lilies, lavender lisianthus and purple stock (2nd.) Bridesmaids bouquets were, vandella roses, purple stock, lisianthus and stephanotis (3rd.) An altarpiece of gladiolas, vandellas, limonium, curly willow and hosta leaves (Photo by Image Matters.) Katie was great, the families were super nice and she brought the Weinermobile to give the "kids" rides, good clean fun!

Vintage

I'm a fan of the vintage flower trend in weddings. I love the flower options, the dresses, brooches and even the babies breath. Top - A sweet bouquet of; astilbe, pink roses, bouvardia, nigella and dusty miller. Lace and a cameo finish the handle. 2nd - Garden flowers and roses in a collection of milk glass vases are still one of my favorite mix n' match centerpiece approaches (the book page ornaments are made by Jamey.) 3rd - Our take on the brooch bouquet, a scepter of; rose ball ornaments and brooches with a cuff of babies breath. 4th - garden roses, scabiosa, queen anne's lace, silver brunia and dusty miller (photo by Travis Duncan.)
